I’m a New Yorker and a xenophile. The thing most foreign to me is homogeneity. Writing has given me a means of realizing a lifelong goal: to do my best to know and understand the world—unfamiliar cultures, odd quirks, and all.

If my career had its own passport, the pages would be well stamped. Experience working for a magazine in Mexico became the qualification I needed to write for a magazine in Japan. That, in turn, opened the door to writing for a magazine in Ethiopia and for my first client in Switzerland. Multilingual wordplay on a travel chat board served as my introduction to editorial consulting at the World Bank and an NGO in Zimbabwe. And when I made plans to go to Alaska but ended up in the Galapagos, the journey ultimately led to connections with clients, colleagues, and friends throughout Latin America.

So far, I’ve traveled as far north as Iceland, as far south as Tierra del Fuego, as far east as Madagascar, and as far west as Thailand. The itinerary has had its share of hairpin turns, unexpected detours, and the occasional ride with strangers—each of which leaves me eager to learn where the next connection will lead. Let’s see what we can accomplish together.
